PT. Excelcomindo Pratama Tbk (XL) obtained the Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) 900 spectrum allocation license from Indonesian authority in September 1995, whereas its commercial operation started in October 1996, providing GSM cellular network and services in the country, in two allocated bandwidth of GSM 900 and subsequently the superior GSM 1800. XL was the first private company to provide mobile telephony service in Indonesia.

Since 2005, XL officially became part of Telekom Malaysia (TM), a major telecommunication company in Malaysia. XL is also strengthened by shareholders with strong expertise and technologies in telecommunication industry. This made XL became one of the major telecommunication company in Indonesia.

XL business consists of voice and other communications services through Corporate and Consumer Solutions.

Up to first quarter of 2007, XL has built more than 7.000 Base Transceiver Station (BTS) towers all around Indonesia to serve 10,1 customers, and XL is committed to continously strengthen the quality and its coverage in the future, in order to serve customers communication needs anytime, anywhere.
By the end of first quarter of 2007, 156 XL Centers are available throughout Indonesia, supported by the Contact Center services who are ready at 24 hours a day, seven days a week. In 2006, XL obtained the 3G license and then launched innovative 3G-based services. Not just that, XL is also launched Video Contact Center, a 3G-based technology customer support.

  1. Saya sangat kecewa dengan layan XL di daerah saya. Sinyalnya jelek sekali, kalau sudah bicara lebih dari 5 menit saja sinyal sudah lemah suara mendengung, susah nyambung, sama sekali tidak susuai dengan iklannya. Apalagi dengan semboyan Terbaik di Sumatera, sepanjang jalan aja sinyalnya labil.
