The Customs and Excise officials foiled Tuesday a large-scale Blackberry cellular phone smuggling attempt from HongKong at the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang, Banten. The smuggling attempt of 100 cellular phones occurred through a curier service which failed to declare the nature of the goods being transported,” a customs official told tempointeraktif.com.

He said the illegal goods were smuggled in by Jakarta residents J, 37, and R, 40, via a Singapore Airlines flight from Singapore. Each of the Blackberry unit costs between Rp 5 million and Rp 8 million in the local market. The total value of the smuggled goods is said to worth more than Rp 100 million.
