CRT is under the National Antimonopoly Commission (CNA) and the Digital Transformation and Telecommunications Agency (ATDT). Its role, replacing IFT, officially took effect on July 17, 2025. CRT not only focuses on product certification but also aims to strengthen and modernize regulatory aspects by issuing more relevant, up-to-date, and practical regulations in the telecommunications sector.

Mexico CRT Type Approval and Certification Process
Mexico CRT certification requires local testing. This means that every telecom and wireless product to be marketed and used in this country must be tested in a local Mexican laboratory.
In conducting local testing, test samples are required. In this case, CRT requires two samples. One sample is used for RF testing, and the other sample is used for safety testing. However, if the product features are more complex, additional samples are usually required.

CRT Certificate Example
CRT Label Requirement
ICT products that have been certified by CRT are required to affix an IFT label on the product and its packaging. This label consists of three components:
The three components of the label are the IFT seal or IFT symbol, the prefix “IFT” in capital letters, and the Homologation Certificate number. This symbol must be clearly printed so that it is easily visible to end users.
For now, labeling still refers to the previous IFT regulations. There are no specific CRT regulations governing labeling at this time.

CRT certification is not limited to telecommunication products only. But this certification is also mandatory for all products that have telecommunication features or radio frequency.

Who should be Applicant on Mexico CRT Approval Certification, manufacturer or Importer?
Applicants for CRT Mexico Approval Certification or certificate holders are companies that also import goods. Therefore, it is recommended that importers be designated as applicants.
Is testing on CRT Certification Mandatory?
For CRT Mexico certification, RF testing is mandatory. The standard used is Norma Oficial Mexicana (NOM).
What are the sample requirements?

How to get Type Approval certificate with Paperwork?
No, it cannot. CRT certification applications must undergo local testing in a Mexican laboratory.
How long is the lead time of Mexico CRT Type Approval and Certification?

- Safety NOMs (e.g. NOM-001 and NOM-019): Four to five weeks
- Telecom NOMs (e.g. NOM-208 and NOM-204): Three to four weeks
How long is the validity of Mexico CRT Certificate?
The validity for CRT is different for each standard.
- Safety NOMs (NOM-001 and NOM-019): One year
- Telecom NOMs (NOM-208): There is no validity period
- Telecom NOMs (NOM-204): There is no validity period as long as the technical information and model remain unchanged
