Swimming pools, who doesn’t know about this recreational and sports facility?

From commercial to private use, swimming pools are widely chosen to complete a building. This is no exception for a villa.

With a swimming pool, it not only adds to the aesthetics of the villa itself, but will also increase the selling value and also attract more visitors to the villa.

Well, in 2023, the team from dimultipool had the opportunity to build a villa in Bogor with a size of 12 x 4 meters and a depth of 1.3 meters!

Check out the process of making a swimming pool for villas that we have summarized especially for you!

A beautiful atmosphere and spacious land are indeed the main reasons why many people choose to build a swimming pool for their villa. With the presence of a swimming pool, the villa will look more beautiful.

1. Bouwplank Installation

The first is the bouwplank installation process. Now, maybe you are confused about what the bouwplank is?

Bouwplank is a structure that is usually in the form of straight wood that is installed on the perimeter or corner of the land where the building is planned to be built.

For us, bouwplank is a very crucial structure to estimate the shape and position of the swimming pool that will be built.

Because on this occasion the swimming pool design that was built had a slightly twisted shape, we used additional materials in the form of ropes, pipes and bamboo.

The bouwplank installation itself took approximately 3-4 hours for this swimming pool, and was assisted by 3-4 people.

2. Digging Process

Next is the digging process which is based on the shape of the bouwplank that we have installed before.

However, for this digging process, we will usually expand around 40-50 cm to make room for the next process such as concrete casting to the installation of mosaic tiles.

3. Formwork

The next step involves constructing the formwork, which serves as a reference for the subsequent concrete casting process.

This formwork is assembled using materials such as lean concrete and cellular lightweight concrete, placed around the previously excavated hole.

The formwork not only facilitates the work of the construction crew but also acts as a barrier between the surrounding soil and the concrete structure of the swimming pool.

4. Steel Structure Installation

In this process, the size and also the series of iron installed must be full of accuracy and also skill in order to minimize the occurrence of miscalculation.

There are several things that must be considered when installing this steel structure, among others:

  • Sloof making: Which used to balance the whole structure of the swimming pool and also transferring the weight to the foundation
  • Concrete column making: Which is used to transfer the weight of the wall structure to sloof.
  • Foundation making: which is used as an overall load pedestal that will transfer the weight to the ground.

When constructing the foundation, the rule of thumb is to have one foundation for every 12 square meters of land to ensure the strength of the swimming pool.

And the size of steel for each steel structure installation process also varies, depending on the size of the swimming pool to be built.

And for this particular swimming pool, the steel structure installation is done in a matter of 18 to 20 days.

5. Concrete Casting

The next step is the concrete casting process. This process requires more labor.

Because, unlike the concrete casting process for other buildings, the concrete casting process for swimming pools must be done in one day to minimize the presence of joints in the concrete.

This is done to ensure the structural strength of the swimming pool.

With a swimming pool measuring 12 x 4 meters and a depth of 1.3 meters, we used 36 cubic meters of concrete with a total manpower of 16 people.

And after approximately 10-12 hours, the concrete casting process is completed, and the curing process itself takes 2-3 days for the concrete to dry completely and also produce a strong swimming pool structure.
