Vietnam, through the Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST), has issued technical standard QCVN 136:2025/BKHCN. This regulation is in accordance with Circular Letter No. 41/2025/TT-BKHCN dated November 30, 2025. This regulation stipulates the technical requirements for radio access equipment operating in the 6 GHz band.
Before the issuance of Technical Standard QCVN 136:2025/BKHCN, a public consultation on the regulation was conducted from October 30 to November 30, 2025. This means that the regulation was issued taking into account input from the entire community.
The technical standard QCVN 136:2025/BKHCN will automatically replace the previous standard QCVN 47:2015/BTTTT. This regulation is part of the Vietnamese government’s efforts to support the foundation for next-generation WiFi.
Vietnam Accommodates Next Generation WiFi
The government, through MoST, has issued the technical standard QCVN 136:2025/BKHCN in response to the challenges of rapid digital transformation, related to frequency management, interference, and radio spectrum security.
Vietnam is well aware of the demands for increased scale and quality. This regulation is, of course, intended to accommodate the latest generation of WiFi, in this case, WiFi 6E and WiFi 7 technology.
Considering its use in households, businesses, factories, hospitals, and schools, WiFi not only functions for internet access but also as a platform for big data, IoT, cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and real-time services.
The scope of this regulation applies to WiFi transmitting and receiving equipment operating on the 6 GHz band. MoST has chosen to implement it in the frequency range of 5925 MHz to 6425 MHz. This range has also been chosen by many countries to implement the next generation of WiFi.
Technical Standard QCVN 136:2025/BKHCN is an important step towards standardizing technical conditions to ensure the stable and safe operation of equipment. This prevents harmful interference with other radio systems.
Technical Standard QCVN 136:2025/BKHCN

The 6 GHz frequency in Vietnam was previously regulated in the old standard QCVN 47:2015/BTTTT. With the introduction of technical standard QCVN 136:2025/BKHCN, the old regulation is automatically replaced.
This new technical standard is an applicable international standard. In this case, the standard refers to the harmonized standard of the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI), namely ETSI EN 303 687 V1.1.1.
When Does This Regulation Come Into Effect?
The QCVN 136:2025/BKHCN technical standard was published on November 30, 2025. However, this regulation will come into effect on January 1, 2027. This means that there will be a one-year transition period.
The technical standard QCVN 47:2015/BTTTT can still be used until December 31, 2026. After that, all technical standards for the 6 GHz frequency band will refer to the new regulation.
Impact of Vietnam Type Approval
Any new regulations implemented in this country will certainly have an impact on Vietnam type approval. The same applies to the QCVN 136:2025/BKHCN technical standard.
This new standard requires equipment included in HS code 8517.62.51 to undergo MoST certification and a Declaration of Conformity (SDoC). This includes affixing a CR (Conformity Mark) before marketing in Vietnam.
For manufacturers and importers who have products in this category and wish to market them in Vietnam, it is important to understand these regulations. A lack of understanding of the regulations can cause obstacles in marketing your products in this country.
