Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2

The first generation of Momentum earbuds from Sennheiser is amazing. Design, sound quality, material, they’re all are just right.

No wonder if this popular TWS from Germany well known Audio manufacturer, Sennheiser, got very positive reception from reviewer.

And now, after a while from the first generation release, manufacturer is ready to make a second hit by releasing Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2.

In highlight, the second-generation of high-end true wireless earbuds gains noise cancelling and longer battery life than the previous one. The first thing you notice is just how big the earbuds are.

Despite being slightly smaller than the previous versions they are still large, shaped like a fez with the eartip projecting out of one corner. They protrude noticeably from your ear when worn.

Main Features of Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2

Just like the other buds, they have no cable attached (well, that’s why we call it True Wireless Earbuds after all) and they are just fit to your ear.

The earbuds look elegant over all. But beyond this elegance look, highlight in the retooled bag of features for Momentum True Wireless 2 is battery life.

As indicated before, second-generation of Momentum boast 7 hours per charge, and 28 hours in total with the charging case.

Unlike other brands that start to use passive noise cancellation instead the active one, Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2 is equipped with active noise cancellation.

However, when this feature is turned on, it will typically impact the battery life to be between 5.5 and 6 hours of playback.

Moreover, Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2 also offer customizable touch control. By tapping the right bud three times, we can engage active noise canceling, the only sound that you will hear is what you are playing.

This is the best way to be chosen if you don want to be interrupted while you are having fun with your buds. What you have to do is just tap three times on the right.

With the presence of touch controls, you might found the Momentum 2 to be effortless device to operate.

Further, the device also has recognition features that will pause the music whenever you remove one of the earbuds from your ear. Sennheiser calls it “Smart Pause”.

Application is not required, just optional

Indeed, Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2 has its own accompanying app called Sennheiser Smart Control that can be downloaded in both App Store or PlayStore.

The application itself was a decent compliment, but it is not that necessary to enjoy these buds. It does offer an option to customize touch controls. There’s also a tab that lets you toggle the buds’ Transparent Hearing feature on and off.

It allows the microphone to pick up the sounds of the environment around, then let the speaker sounds it, just like the reversed version of Active Noice Cancellation.

From most user perspective, the most helpful features in the app were the settings that allow you to turn off things like Smart Pause or the ability to auto-accept calls.

The app’s featured equalizer too, which is very useful in pulling a little more low end or extra treble out of the buds. But I think the original tuning is just the best way to be made as it already comes from the original sound. Besides, who else would ever doubt Sennheiser’s sound quality, right?

Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2: Audio quality

As we all know that the first-generation Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless were the best wireless earbuds we’ve ever heard.

The company, which is widely known as a leader in audio quality, wouldn’t have had to add much to the next edition to maintain the status quo.

They just need to make some move to make their product become perfect. However, Sennheiser decided to add active noise cancellation to the Momentum 2. Which, by my estimation, is a pretty big deal.

Besides noise cancellation, Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2 seems to inherit what first generation offered. It has superior clarity, the impressive low end, the stunning stereo imagery.

It was impressing at how. The sound pulls you into the music and engulfs you as you pick up notes and instruments that just aren’t present in competitors. Now we take all of that, and add active noise cancellation.

As final touch, with properly fitting ear tips the earbuds do a solid job of blocking out surrounding noise without the feature.

Stable Bluetooth Connection

To connect with mobile device, Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2 is equipped with Bluetooth 5.1 compliant.

It supports A2DP, AVRCP, HSP, HFP Bluetooth profile. Definitely, this is an advance Bluetooth technology that promised stable connection and clear sound transmission.

And as usual, with the presence of Bluetooth technology, means that the device needs to comply with regional wireless regulation like EN for European nations, FCC for US, SDPPI for Indonesia, Sirim for Malaysia, etc. All these compliance will provide safety to the user.

So, if you want to afford, make sure that you get the device from trusted seller that is original, and has complied with local standard.

Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2 Impression and Price

Like its older relatives, Momentum 2 also have an IPX4 weatherproof rating. making the earbud essentially splash-proof but not completely waterproof. They did just fine for the light workoutt.

It was able to be squeezed for sport, while practicing social distancing as part of coronavirus measures. However, I can’t speak a lot for how they would hold up in repeated sweat-heavy sessions.

Overall, Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2 is a great set of high-end true wireless earbuds that tick most boxes. They sound fantastic, particularly if you are a fan of clean, controlled and highly detailed sound.

They last a long time between charges, have a solid set of gesture controls including volume adjustment, and have rock-solid Bluetooth connectivity with support for SBC, AAC and aptX.

Lastly, if you’re interested with this TWS that has good looks in and out (I swear the cotton-finished earbud case is just looks good and feels good), you can afford it in 299.95 USD. That’s what posted in Sennheiser’s official website, but the price may be vary for each region.
